Learning Units:
Reading - Bad Kitty (chapter book read together as a class) - Students have been doing a wonderful job during class and participating in class discussions! Students are working on answering comprehension questions about our read aloud.
Writing - Personal Narrative Writing in Paragraphs using the Writing Process - In class we will be working on building our stamina. We’ve noticed that students are having difficulty with staying focused and writing on their own for longer than a few minutes at a time. Students are writing about personal experiences and turning their ideas into complete paragraphs.
Math - Displaying Data by Graphing - Students will continue making sense of data in our first unit by reading and interpreting picture graphs and bar graphs.
Social Studies - Government - In this unit, students will learn about the branches of government, how a bill becomes a law, and voting and elections. Students will bring home their newspapers with articles that have been read in class so that they can review material at home prior to the assessment.
Health - Asking for Help - Students will identify possible situations when healthy help is needed.
