Learning Units:
Reading - Comprehension, Drawing Conclusions, & Vocabulary - Students will be reading in reading groups at their instructional level, but also practice reading passages that are on grade level. Students will be working with nonfiction books and work on unknown words in which they will need to use context clues to develop understanding.
Writing - Narrative Piece - Students will continue their writing piece about what they are thankful for. They will revise, edit, and publish four paragraphs and use reasons and supporting details about their topics.
Math - Addition and Subtraction within 1,000- Students are wrapping up Unit 3. Their Unit 3 Test will be on Friday. They will bring a study guide home to complete. Please sign and return when your child completes it AND they have explained their problem solving skills with you, and/or you have checked over their work. (They will earn extra credit for completing the study guide prior to the test.) This unit covers representing numbers in different ways, solving addition and subtraction problems involving multiple strategies, and rounding numbers. We will still practice multiplication fluency daily!
Science - Life Cycles- Students will continue learning about life cycles in plants and animals. They will be able to explain characteristics inherited from parents or influenced by the environment. Students will also look at similarities and differences between plants and animals.
Health - Body Systems- Students will explore the nervous system and digestive system. They will be able to describe the primary functions of both systems.
