Learning Units:
Reading - Main Idea & Supporting Details - Students will be reading in reading groups at their instructional level with nonfiction books. We will work on main idea with supporting details, use of text features throughout reading, and drawing conclusions. As a class, we will read a variety of Expository Nonfiction books throughout the week.
Writing - Stuck in a Snow Globe - Students will continue next week with creating their own story. They will write about their own fictional adventure as they get stuck inside of a snow globe. This is the writing assignment that we will incorporate the pictures you have sent to me of your child outside in the snow! Students have used a lot of imagination so far! I am looking forward to hearing what they add to their stories next week!
Math - Fractions- Students will continue Unit 5 which covers fractions. This is a huge unit! Students will by naming unit and non-unit fractions, building fractions, and modeling fractions using models, shapes, bar diagrams, and number lines. We will still practice multiplication fluency daily!
Science - Patterns of Survival- Students will continue a unit in science next week called Patterns of Survival. This unit will include looking at organisms in different ecosystems, and their adaptations to survive. Later in the unit, students will learn about extreme weather conditions and weather patterns.
Agriculture - Soil - Students learned about Missouri regions and what crops are harvested in each area. Next week students will learn about types of soil and their layers.
Health - Healthy Coping Strategies- Students will explore different types of coping strategies when dealing with stress. They will also be able to explain some ways to help others.
