Learning Units:
Reading - Main Idea & Supporting Details - Students will be reading in reading groups at their instructional level with nonfiction books. We will work on main idea with supporting details, use of text features throughout reading, and drawing conclusions. As a class, we are reading the chapter book Chocolate Touch, and learning a lot of new vocabulary!
Writing - Research - In honor of Black History Month, students will choose to research an influential black historian. Students will have a list to choose from, and then use books and safe online search engines in class for research.
Math - Fractions- Students will wrap up Unit 5 which covers fractions. This is a huge unit! Students have been naming unit and non-unit fractions, building fractions, and modeling fractions using models, shapes, bar diagrams, and number lines. Our test will be next Friday, February 23. We will still practice multiplication fluency daily!
Agriculture - Dairy - Students learned about beef and cattle in Missouri. Next week students will learn about dairy and make butter!
Health - Healthy Coping Strategies- Students will explore different types of coping strategies when dealing with stress. They will also be able to explain some ways to help others.
